月光光 [the bright, bright moon]...

i don't listen much to boyz or kenny... but this one, the lyrics, is written by my best friend... so wanna share with u...

/////////////////////

nite tour @ cu...

it sounds a bit crazy but... petrus & i were taking photos with carter at cu campus last nite... it was 10:30, 10:30 at nite... carter was wearing his graduation gown... we were celebrating his graduation from the bible seminary... BUT who will take photos in such a late nite @ cu? here we are - the three fools... =p

it has been quite a while since my last visit to the cu campus (expect a few times for friend's wedding)... we visited many places and recalled me quite some memories... the main campus, the u-lib, NA/UC campus... the whole campus changes a lot... it looks like more "modern" and beautiful(?!), but less "classic"...

after the photo-taking session, we continued our nite fever - having dessert in taipo... haha...

soooooo mucccchhhhh fuuuunnnnnn~~~!!! hahaheeeee...

CRE...

today i took the CRE - Common Recruitment Examination... this is part of the recruitment process for applying some civic service posts in hongkong... but also kind of benchmark of ur language & reasoning abilities... the three papers are aptitude test, use of chinese, and use of english...

i did take the exam in spring 2002... and got passes in all three papers... since the results only valid for three years (?)... so i have to retake the exam... just wonder if i could pass this time... =p em... will receive notification in a month's time...

"minister pang"...

today is a big day for my best, best friend - carter... his graduation from the bible seminary... eventually becomes "minister pang"... =p

he must hit me (or break me into two piece) as i call him a "minister"... but i DO think it is an honour for him to receive this title... i'm so proud of him, and to be one of his best friends...

carter: it is only a beginning... and more challenges are there waiting for u... may Lord be with u and strengthen u... pray 4 u...

chek lap kok...

today i went for another "outing" to chek lap kok...

so as to resolve uplifting procedure for boat/yacht from water... we went to the marine cargo terminal MCT @ chek lap kok... and had meeting with its operator - chu kong transportation... the terminal has only been operated for 4-5 years... they have the equipment and enough space for uplifting... plus in-water display is feasible there...

after meeting with MCT, we visited the asiaworld-expo AWE as well... the newly built exhibition centre, next to the airport... construction work should be completed by next month... so they are now rushing for the final stage of renovation... to take a look of this new site of fair ground, pls check here...

china bi-week...

last two weeks has been my "china bi-week"... i have been to different parts of the guangdong province during the last two weeks...

other than the mission trip to songguang on 5-6.11... i went to dapeng (shenzhen) on 7.11 and jiangmen on 11.11... and today (18.11), i went to pingsha (zhuhai)... all these are business day trips... meetings with many government officials... and boat / motorbike investors & manufacturers in the region... really a very different kind of experience... also very tired...

may have to continue my "china tour" - as my boss & i should be going to huadu (guangzhou) as well... awaiting confirmation from huadu government... well...

November 13, 2005

sandy lam in concert...

sandy lam is just so wonderful...

i've been fan of sandy for 10 years... she is a real super star, a charming performer... she has the kind of "starness"... her concert is so amazing... i was like crazy... and kept moving my body with her music... hehe...

just to share my happiness... click here...

p.s. thx danny: helping us to get the tickets @ the 3rd row... yeah~~~

November 07, 2005

back from songgang...

back from songgang... what a wondeful trip...

it was so hot... as the churches were packed with ppl, with no good ventilation... so we sang, we sweat... we danced, we sweat... and we kept on sweating all nite...
(just reminded me the sweat we had in the brooklyn church...)

but we are, at least i do, encouraged by these "thirsty hearts" in china... they so want to receive the gospel... they so want to be taught... they so want to know more about the Bible... their hearts are so pure... their hearts are so ready for God... and there are so many of these "thirsty hearts" in china waiting to be nurtured...

more spiritual leaders are needed... just don't have enough... but they don't have the materials... and they don't have the manpower - qualified teachers... as we are in hong kong... and just a few hours of drive (or flight) apart... are u ready to serve them? they are there and waiting for u, if u wanna...

thx God for such a great, wonderful experience... hallelujah...

p.s. cheers to rm 303 combination... ivan & henry, i won't mind be the "0" (old) one... =p ur sharing does encourage and enlighten me... keep praying for u... add oil~~~

November 05, 2005

songgang...

we (around 30 ppl) will be serving in songgang... 1.5 hr drive from shenzhen downtown... northwest of shenzhen city... in two days, we will have 2 praise & worship + EM gatherings... sunday service... choir training workshop...

be back on sunday late nite (11.00pm)... pray for our safety and health...

toronto (part two)...

24.09.2005
we headed to downtown toronto today ... it took around half an hour driving from alfred's place to the church... we would have a seminar in the afternoon and followed by a P&W gathering...

the church was another "classical" one... it was more like a theater (phantom of the opera?) than a church... its detailed hand-craft and decoration were so amazing... a very beautiful church...

the cantonese congregation was relatively "mature"... with less teenagers or young adults... but the overall response was good...

as told by the pastor... not so many christian org would come, and held events at their church... since their congregation was not large and its location wasn't in the chinese-concenrated district... //sigh...

25.09.2005
we had a busy day today... leading worship at a community church in markham... then a seminar in the afternoon... plus a gathering in the evening...

the community church had only some-30 brothers & sisters... they were quite "cold"... needed extra efforts to push, push and push them really worshipping... hopefully, some of them were willing to step up, to change and to (re)dedicate their lives to our Lord...

the seminar and P&W gathering held at HOME church - alfred's church... for the P&W gathering... the church was completely full... which was really out of our expectation...

a little story to tell...

when rev mak was calling for believing in Christ... worship team and choir were singing... alfred, who was supposed to be with his bass guitar, walked into the congregation... and we were so shocked... alfred went past the control panel... and he came to an old woman - his mum... alfred kept inviting his mum to believe in God... eventually she didn't and alfred cried...

not only alfred was crying... esther and i were crying... some others might have cried too... we felt sorry... we felt the sadness in alfred...we thought of our parents... we were touched by what alfred did...

it was the last gathering in the toronto stop... it was also my last nite with the team... so i was so energetic / hyperactive / excited during the entire gathering... indeed i knew that i would so miss the team... and i still do...

toronto (part one)...

22.09.2005
weather was changing... it was much cooler when we got to toronto... i stayed at rowena's house... just less than 5 mins walk from alfred's... this area is pretty new... it is far far north... north of 16th street... just a few block from mccowan...

it was so good to be in canada again... can't imagine that i was here 3 years ago...

esther & alfred had some admin / business stuff to finish off this morning... so rowena drove me to a western mall - markville - nearby for killing time... i did a few things - to check my cibc account... to exchange currency... to buy a phone card from fido... and i did a quick shopping as well - bought 2 casual shirts from old navy... then i joined them at market village to have lunch with alfred's parents...

the choir in toronto was hugh... they had around 50 ppl (regular + ad hoc)... and we had the first rehearsal tonite...really not bad... u can see that bro & sis are praising God from their hearts... doing their best... just the stage is bit too pack...

23.09.2005
the first gathering tonite in scarborough area...

we had problems with ppt projection... first, we only had an hour for ppt try-out since their technician could only come by 6.30pm... well... okay...but, for some unknown reasons, none of our 3 laptops worked properly with the projector in that church... the image was so dim and blur... so we tried to work on the PC system from the church... yes, the image was back to normal... but the PC re-booted itself every 5-10 mins... //sigh...

only 5 mins before the program started... and we had warned the worship leader on this situation... but we still needed to make a choice... and we chose to take the risk and use the church's PC... so we prayed, we prayed for the PC... we prayed that God would protect the PC from any attack...

thanks God... the PC worked well without rebooting itself during the entire gathering (which lasted for 2.5 hours)... hallelujah...

forgot to introduce a new teammate from hong kong - tony... deacon from rev mak church... to experience how the ACM tour would be... he worked with me on the ppt... so both of us had experienced an unforgettable God's miracle tonite...

October 25, 2005

new jersey (part three)...

19.09.2005
thomas & meggie were heading back to hongkong today... thomas was on equipment set-up / panel control / photographer... meggie was on powerpoint control... they joined the tour for second time... they really had a passion for the ministry in the states / canada... some other toronto team members had to leave as well... seeya in two days later...

only 5 of us stayed for two more days in new jersey - rev mak, alfred, michael, esther and i... we had a day of rest... just rev mak needed to give an ad hoc workshop at ita's house in the evening... around 10 bro/sis from ita's church joined this "underground" workshop...

20.09.2005
haha... we went out for shopping today~~! yeah... we went to woodbury outlet - 1.5 hours drive from ita's house...

we learnt a lesson today... don't trust the so-called "technology"... we had turned on the GPS with alfred's palm when we drove... but all the way the system gave us "alternative" direction... when we were on the highway (the easiest and most time-saving route)... it kept saying "take the next exit"... well~~~

we had our "last supper" with ita's family... finally our "new jersey" stop had came to the end... take care...

21.09.2005
we took the flight to toronto today... after having viet food for lunch... we headed to newark airport...

praised God that no much trouble with the custom... just we needed to wait for an extra hour at newark airportl as our flight was delayed... and it took us another 45 mins for taxing, queuing and really taking off... //sigh...

new jersey (part two)...

17.09.2005
the second morning but my jet lag seemed gone... so good, yeah~~~

we had gathering at ita's church RCCC tonite... and i needed to follow through the powerpoint...since i would be playing the ppt in toronto... in this program, we had a total of some 240 slides to play... plus the rundown had been changing since the first day... so every time was new and never be the same... really cool?!

tonite's program was much smoother... rev mak's message was more complete... musicians and worship leaders were more familiar with the rundown... since i was having jet lag last nite... i couldn't really enjoy the program that much... but today i was so touched and moved by the message... some newcomers accepted Christ, and a few committed themselves full-time serving God... hallelujah...

18.09.2005
we held the sunday service at ita's church this morning... rev mak used the google earth to demonstrate some historical incidents in OT time... which was so fantastic... by the end of the message... all the congregation raised their hands, and hands-in-hands praised the Lord... ita told us that it never happened in their church before... woh~~~

the toronto choir left after sunday service... they needed to drive another 10 hours back to canada... but we would be meeting again in a few days, rite?! drive safe...

we had a choir sharing gathering in this afternoon... we did have a really good sharing among the team... rev mak had called for full-time serving for ACM ministry in north america... 5-6 of us responded to God's calling... pray that God would prepare them for the future use... amen...

let me introduce ita's parent - ester & paul... they were both christians and really committed... they were so supportive to ACM ministry...during the evening, they held a mid-autumn festival BBQ at their backyard... and they had been organising this for years...

new jersey (part one)...

15.09.2005
after 17/18 hours of flight... i finally got to JFK new york...

this was my first time taking KE... and their service was really good... for seoul-new york leg, they used 777 equipped with personal VOD system for economic class as well... its korean dish was so yummy yummy...

thx to jackson... who drove me from JFK to their church in new jersey... it took almost 2 hours of driving, one way...i.e. it took him a total of 4 hours driving back and forth...

i was so surprised to know that ita was just a U3 student... but she had to arrange all the stuff for the gatherings here...

16.09.2005
got up quite early this morning... coz of jet lag... but hopefully i could still manage to get some rest after the long flight...

bro/sis from various places gathered at ita's house this morning... halo elaine - who drove 2 hours from maryland to new jersey... some 13/14 choir members from toronto also arrived by 9... they had been driving overnite...around 10-hour drive all the way from toronto to new jersey... i was so touched by how they devoted themselves in serving God...esp driving such a long way to the states and serving the community here...

we departed from ita's home by around 11am... and we drove another hour to a chinese church in brooklyn... the church, and its building, was old... no, i should say the church was so "classical" with beautiful glass pictures on the windows... and today was just a bit too hot... the church had no air conditioning... well... #_#

let me introduce our special guest - mr boomjiu... he was our ad hoc helper on the lighting... when the program had just started for a few minutes...all of a sudden, the screen had no projection... instruments had no sound, no power... we had no electricity... em... mr boomjiu turned the MAIN power OFF... em... it took us some time to reset all the things... thanks to mr boomjiu...

temple worship...

this morning, we have the "temple worship & temple prophecy" P&W gathering held at rev mak's church retreat camp...

this theme originates from the ACM P&W gatherings at hong kong coliseum, back in 2002... the idea is then developed into a more detailed program... we just have this program in our last ACM tour - "temple worship & temple prophecy" P&W gathering...

[yes, i promise to post my recap on the tour... i've been working on this... so be patient...]

since we don't have much time to prepare the full program for this camp... so we just do a shortened verison, the miniture one... but it does create the same impact on bro/sis... hallelujah...

October 20, 2005

10 days...

after working 10 successive days since last monday... i finally take ONE day leave today... sleep is what i need... yeah, yeah, yeah~~~

A-Z of God...

Although things are not perfect
Because of trial or pain
Continue in thanksgiving
Do not begin to blame
Even when the times are hard
Fierce winds are bound to blow
God is forever able
Hold on to what you know
Imagine life without His love
Joy would cease to be
Keep thanking Him for all the things
Love imparts to thee
Move out of "Camp Complaining"
No weapon that is known
On earth can yield the power
Praise can do alone
Quit looking at the future
Redeem the time at hand
Start every day with worship
To "thank" is a command
Until we see Him coming
Victorious in the sky
We'll run the race with gratitude
Xalting God most high
Yes, there'll be good times and yes some will be bad, but...
Zion waits in glory...where none are ever sad!

July 16, 2005

mileage...

still about the NA trip... still on the matter of flight booking...

originally the agent has booked me on NW... indeed i don't mind travelling with NW... since i'm their WorldPerks memeber, I can even claim the mileage (yeah~~)... the overall itinerary is okay... just i have to spend 6 hours for the EWR/YYZ leg... coz need to transfer at detroit - NW hub... which sounds a bit crazy~~~

so, we check if there is another option... we try KE... we book the flight bet'n HKG/JFK & YYZ/HKG on KE... then reserve a EWR/YYZ one-way on AC... guess what... total airfare for KE+AC costs HK$800-1,000 less... hallelujah~~~

AND... i just realize that KE and NW are under the SkyTeam Global Alliance... which means i can still earn miles under my WorldPerks account... wahwahwah...

July 13, 2005

JFKEWRYYZICN...

while checking out airfare for the NA trip... i've learnt some new "things" - the airport abbreviation... it sounds so interesting... and see how many of the followings u would know...

ok, HKG is hong kong - this is the most simplest one... but how about...

ICN
JFK
EWR
YYZ
YUL
RST
LGA
SFO
DTW
NRT
YOW
YVR
ROC
TPE

wow... who set up all these codes? really crazy...

July 08, 2005

July 01, 2005

experiencing macau

today a total of 17 ppl from my fellowship have a day trip to macau... it is not a mission trip but kind of a "experiencing macau" tour...

we are in 4 different groups... going to different areas / places... mainly around the central (for the rich) and the northern district (for the poor)...

the trip is really fun... we try NOT to see / listen / feel macau as tourists... we learn quite a different "macau" from our past experience...

here are some photos taken from our "experiencing macau" tour...

June 20, 2005

haha... i'm not rich but they do offer 12 month interest-free installment plan from credit card (the most evil side, the dark side, of credit card)... *_*

but, yes, i love it... i love it very much... plus, with the HP promotion, i can get a 1GB SD card (memory card) as free gift... it is really a good deal, rite? yeah~~~

May 20, 2005

updates: the new challenge...

it has been almost 3 weeks since i first got the call from ex-boss... em... yes, the decision is made: i will take the offer... back to the exhibition industry...

after lots of prayers... seeking His guidance... sharing with friends... i think i need to move on... move on to the next stage... i will leave CCCon in mid-june... it is not a easy decision though...

in this new post... i will be assisting the manager, mainly, in two new projects / exhibitions, including the leisure sport expo, to be co-organised with tdc... plus some existing fairs, to re-package the show, like the real estate industry expo in the mainland...

gonna sign the contract / letter of offer next week...

may God's peace be with me always...

April 29, 2005

so many things but a prayer request again...

so many things happening lately... say moving office, new and unexpected projects... but i think the prayer request is more critical... and here comes the story...

today i received a call from my ex-boss at the germany exhibition company MMI... she asked if i would like to work with her again... according to her, the company gonna expand and extra manpower was needed...

my feeling was so strange... amazed... coz it's not making sense... couldn't really understand... indeed dunno how to describe the feeling... since there should be quite a lot of good / suitable candidates in the market... but why she has to call me??

to be honest... i'm really 15/16... em... i'm happy with CCCon... i love my colleague... they are so friendly... and we are really working as a team... plus i can have flexi time for my ACM serving...

on the other side... i have been longing for a job which is more PR-related, more marketing-oriented... to work in the exhibition industry which is really attractive...

well... this offer would have a more "foreseeable" (in my mum's sense) future and prospect... plus i assume that i can start saving up money for my other plans...

but what is my career path?

so i'm really frustrated... should i go or stay... so pls do pray for me... pray for the peace from God... no matter what the decision is... what i want is His peace... thx~~~

sexual orientation...

we have such a case in hongkong...

a 2nd-floor bookstore refused to put some pamphlets - promoting a book on lesbian lifestyle, funded by the gov - on their news stand... since the director and owner of that bookstore is a Christian... even though it is not a Christian bookstore... they don't think it is appropriate to put such materials in the store... so they rejected...

this is just half of the story...

a lesbian organisation - Rainbow Hong Kong, then claimed that this incident had showed that they (lesbians and gays) were being discriminated in Hong Kong... their human rights were being intervened... 2 LC members, Chiu-hung Cheung & Emily Lau, said that Hong Kong as a plural society, the public should be more open and supportive to different minority groups... they urged the government to pass the anti-sexual orientation discrimination bill...

my goodness... should we have a bill to protect heterosexual's rights?

i found love...

"i found love" - this is the song we have been practicing in the singing class for the last couple of weeks... it is so difficult: in term of its tempo and its melody... esp i, as a bass (second bass), have to sing a "high A" note (ok, it is the so-called "high A" in male range, u know what i mean?)... this "high A" is really out of my range (as my upper range is just an "E flat", or "E" the most)...

yes, it is difficult but challenging... and we are having fun as well... hopefully we could make it one day!!!

my first time...

today is Good Friday... yes, we have Good Friday every year - but...

today is my first time being in a prison (for 7 hours)...

today is my first time leading worship (should be sharing hymns, to be more exact) in English...

today is my first time sharing my testimony in English...

maybe u can figure out what i've done today... i (together with other ACMers) went to Pik Uk Prison for their Easter EMs organised by HK Christian Kun Sun Association...

we had three meetings to host: two in Cantonese, one in English... i was then "assigned" to lead the English one... really scary... coz i had no experience in leading a English worship... ~_~

it took me quite some days to come up with the songlist... we had a brief rehersal two weeks before... i wrote down all my scripts... all things were ready the nite before...

but things never happened as u might wish... esp when u thought that u had well prepared...

according to the rundown, we would have a 15-min hymns sharing before the sermon... but upon we arrived the foreign canteen (where we had the gathering), the speaker - Helen Reed - had finished her sermon already... she, indeed, had already been there for an hour and more...

well... we could simply sing the 3 songs which we had prepared... but what to do next... coz our session was supposed to end by 4pm, but now it was only 3pm...

okay... we just finished our part as planned... meanwhile Helen did a few sharings between songs... we sang Perhaps Love, More than Anything, and God will make a Way...

after those hymns - we had 45 mins left... so Helen asked us (our team) a very simple question - How did Jesus change your life?... simple but we needed to use English... ooops... hopefully with God's mercy, we managed to share our stories in English...

this is really a wonderful experience i ever have in serving Him... so many "first time"s altogether... thx God for letting me to serve Him in the prison...

poo ai...

another round of "killing school" has just announced lately... i didn't pay much attention to the news... until my friend told me: "poo ai" is on the list... oooooops... my goodness...

"poo ai" is a catholic primary school in hunghum, kowloon... it's just next to the apartment building where i once lived... so it just took me a few mins to walk downstairs for school...

but in the coming school year... "poo ai" will no longer allow to admit P1 student (a.k.a. grade 1 in american edu system)... as it couldn't recruit enough P1 students this year... "poo ai" is just one of the primary schools to be killed...

why do we such a "school killing" policy? just becoz of a low birth rate in hongkong... resulting in an excess of primary school vacancies... esp hunghum is an old urban district, with fewer new born babies now... but u may also say that - there is a fault in the planning of education resources...

anyway... no matter for what reason... it is sad... *_*

more on doctor Lien...

here is one of Lien's stories from the book...

when his churchmates knowing that he was sent to Africa, they kept sending him boxes of used/new clothes without saying a word, or stating any reason... a total of sixty boxes (woh!)...

with his creative mind, he started the idea of a clothes-for-garbage activity in his area... hundreds of children gathered at a school playground... within only 2 hours, all the clothes were gone...

then...

a taiwanese girl heard of his story and wrote him an email... but Lien's reply on the clothes-for-garbage project was then being forwarded to seventy of the girl's friends... and these seventy kept forwarding the email... finally this email was widely spread around the world... [pls don't under-estimate the power of the internet...]

more and more ppl knew about this wonderful project... then they started sending him boxes and boxes and boxes of clothes and toys... this time, there were 1,500 boxes...

these 1,500 boxes of clothes had created a series of problems... under God's providence, and with Lien's faithful heart... all these problems were resolved one-by-one, no later no earlier... so he could start another round, with a larger scale, of clothes-for-garbage campaign in the city...

about doctor Lien Chia-en...

yes... i am back from taiwan... with lots of fun, new experience... no photo, coz my DC wasn't working... plus lots of, lots of books...

lately i have been reading one written by doctor Lien...

doctor Lien Chia-en (連加恩), a brother in the Lord... he is a medical graduate from National Yang Ming University, taiwan... he signed up for the alternative diplomatic service program and served in Burkina Faso (South Africa) upon graduation...

the book is about his life in Burkina Faso for the past 2 years... about the miracles happened around him... about God's mercy to his faithful heart...

i am so touched by the book... by the work he, and He, has done...

CNY is coming to town...

just 3 more days... CNY is coming to town... according to chinese calendar... it (2005) gonna be the year of rooster...

tonite i went to the flower market in causeway bay... well~~~ already "ppl mountain ppl sea"... the streets are crowded as well... and shops are all in their "final sales" stage (from 20% to 50% off)... money are flying away... $$$less, BAD...

starting from the coming wed, we will enjoy our 5-day CNY holiday (including sat & sun) in hong kong ... my friends in canada, don't be jealous... hehe...

hong kong's CNY holiday is the shortest among the three main chinese areas... taiwan ppl will have a week of holidays (woh~)... and, indeed, the mainlanders will have almost two / three weeks (woh~ woh~ woh~)... since they need to travel for days and nights to get back their home... so very likely that they would have used half of the holidays on the road...

i will be spending 3 days in shaoguan (northern part of the guangdong province) with my mum... then will have usual family gatherings during the rest of the CNY holiday... and the key is - to get red pockets from relatives... hehe...

btw, my trip to taiwan is confirmed... leaving on the 18 morning and returning on the 21 evening... the air ticket only costs 980 + tax (371)... a good deal, rite?

January 30, 2005

volleyball...

tonite i go playing volley with some ACMers... so good to have a group of volley fans here in ACM... like this time, we have around 20 ppl...

but guess who is our special guest??? it is jerald from the ex-boy group "swing"... he is quite good at volley though...

long time no play... muscle aches and pains are all around my body... BAD~~~

January 11, 2005

yes, it gonna be my third time going to taipei... in my lifetime, and in this fiscal year (2004-05)... it gonna be after the chinese new year... haha... it is partial business, partial personal...

January 02, 2005

being the so-called "conductor"...

it has been 2 and a half years since my last "conducting" in montreal... today, once again, being the so-called "conductor" of my church choir (noon session)... very (to the power of 1,000) nervous... i dunno... it should be okay, i think...

January 01, 2005

so cold...

it is so cold now... only having 4 deg C in taipo... and about 6-7 deg C in most hong kong / kowloon area... it is the coldest new year day for the past 40-something years... but still have to say: happy new year~~~ *_*

last nite... acm performed at the statue square in central... our session started at around 10:45pm (it should be 10:15pm, but the previous group over-run)... the choir started the show by singing some action songs... followed by the dancers and singers... we did the count down... and sang, sang, sang until 1:00am... we had quite some fans coming and supporting us...

we will have performance tonite from 9:30pm till 11:00pm... hopefully it won't be that cold... i think around 8-9 deg C...
